GRANTMAKING AND FUNDING
To actualize the organization’s programming, SWT strategically positions itself as a center for resource mobilization and through supporting indigenous women and youth-led institutions by re-granting and offering seed capitals and technical support to develop their capacities. SWT hosts a basket fund named NAAPU Indigenous Women Fund which provides indigenous women with access to funding and financial resources. The basket fund envisions to serve and strengthen indigenous women’s voices and bargaining power within their homes as well as the wider society.
NAAPU fund acts as a central hub for advancing and promoting indigenous women and adolescent girls empowerment through seed capital and capacity development to enable combat climate change and humanitarian crisis.
SWT’s grant-making strategy operates at three levels:
-
- Regional Level: support 18 grantees across Africa from 2022 to 2026 cycle advancing indigenous people’s conservation and sustainable management of biodiversity for adaptation and resilience to climate change.
- National Level: supports 12 women and girl-led organizations in 8 arid and semi-arid counties of Kenya, to advance women and girl’s collective voices to address Gender Based Violence (GBV) among indigenous communities.
- Local Level: Support 14 organizations through micro-grant community-led response to combat devastating humanitarian crises, cash transfer, wash and nutrition, and other life-saving interventions.
