We Advocate for the rights of Indigenous Women and Girls
Samburu Women Trust (SWT) is an indigenous women-led network of indigenous women advancing women and girls rights among indigenous communities, for decade we have been on frontline advocating inclusiveness and effective participation of indigenous women and girls in decision making processes at all levels. The organization strengthens the capacity of women to influence policies and increase voices and leadership. It’s also the Convener/Secretariat of Indigenous Women Council (IWC).
Indigenous Women Council (IWC) is a national women movement with more than 80 members, the membership diverse grassroots women leaders from Pastoralist, hunter-gatherers, fisher folks, women with disabilities and adolescent girls from Arid and Semi-Arid Lands (ASALs), consisting of 23 counties of Kenya. The network also includes individual indigenous women, women human rights defenders, Women Networks, CBOs/ NGOs and Charitable organizations led by women, girls, widows, PWDs and youth led networks. The women movement aim at amplifying collective voices at the grassroots, national, regional and international level.
